Into the Labyrinth : A PhD Comprehensive Portfolio

Publications

In this section I include peer reviewed and published articles and book chapters, scholarly writing accepted and awaiting publication, a previously published report, and recognized contribution to a global research project as an expert panelist. These are selected for inclusion as they exemplify my ability to write and respond within scholarly frameworks. Each publication has taught me how to manage and follow established timelines, how to substantially contribute my skills and expertise, how to negotiate and respond when writing with others, and how to apply critical editing skills to ensure a consistent voice is used throughout a document. Overall, I have learned that publication of scholarly works requires a conscientious and consistent effort, skills to write using an academic voice, collaboration skills when writing with others, and a strong background knowledge with well researched information. Here I will focus on three publications as representative works here in this portfolio. Supplementary references are included in Appendix A.

Cross-Cultural Mentoring. The first published work is a journal article I co-authored as a result of a mentoring project for the UNESCO Open Education for a Better World project. It was recently published in an open access journal, so it can be shared here. It is included as a link to the journal submission.

2. Since this book review has been accepted for inclusion in an upcoming edition of the Journal of Media Literacy in Education (JMLE), I reviewed the copyright policy on the JMLE website and discovered that a Creative Commons “Attribution 4.0 International” license is applied to publications. This allows me, as the author, to retain the copyright and permits the download, reuse, re-print, modification, redistribution and/or copying of the final version of this paper. With proper attribution, it can be replicated here.
